Tennis' glamour couple Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina recently tied the knot and the newlyweds spoke about relationships in tennis. The CrossCourt format will feature numerous episodes of players talking to one another. One will be an ATP player with the other one being a
WTA player. In the first Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina were the guests.
Fittingly the topic was relationships and Svitolina kicked things off by asking Gael what relationships were for him:
"You have first of all a big relationship with your coach and then for me, it's easier because I'm with you. It's a different type of relationship. I found my soulmate in my sport."
Svitolina admitted that it was tough to balance career and relationships but it's easier when he is also a tennis player. She also joked:
"The bad part is when your partner is training at 7 in the morning and someone loves to have a 12 hour sleep. Mostly it's me training really early."
Monfils also recalled texting to ask Svitolina if she would join him and his friends for a drink. "And then you definitely said 'yes'...
of course. Svitolina replied after a laugh:
"No, no, no, no... At first,
I was... I didn't want to do it. I was jet-lagged and it was tough to
stay awake."
They also spoke about the famous proposal in the mountains and you can see all of this and more below.
