Rafael Nadal is a true gladiator of the sport of tennis because he began his 900th consecutive week in the top 10 of the ATP rankings today.
Those who follow tennis know that Rafael Nadal has dealt with plenty of injuries over the years. It's not been as bad as Nishikori for example but he hasn't had the best of luck when it comes to them either. That makes this particular milestone even more bonkers as the Spaniard continues to write tennis history.
He began his 900th consecutive week in the top 10 of the ATP Rankings. Obviously, that's a record and quite a bit better than the previous one by Jimmy Connors who spent 789 weeks. He was 18 when he debuted in the top 10 and he is 36 right now. He's been ranked inside the top 10 for over 17 years and that is consecutive weeks, not total.
Out of those 900, 209 were spent as number one with 382 coming as number two. Truly remarkable.
