Having just captured his 13th Roland Garros title in Paris, World No.2 Rafael Nadal will be returning to the French Capital to compete at the Paris Masters later this month.
The Spaniard confirmed his participation via a social media post, which featured him training at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Manacor. Nadal will be making the transition from clay to the indoor hardcourts of Paris, as he prepares to compete at the event for an eighth time.
After capturing his record 13th French Open title, the Mallorca native is now tied with Roger Federer at 20 Grand Slams apiece. He will be looking to win his 36th ATP Masters 1000 trophy at the Paris Masters, which would draw him level with Novak Djokovic. The Serbian won a historic 36th Masters title at Cincinnati in August, and currently holds the record for most ATP Masters trophies.
The Rolex Paris Masters will take place in the City of Lights from October 31st till November 8, with Novak Djokovic as the defending champion. The Serbian defeated rising Canadian sensation Denis Shapovalov in straight sets during last year's final, winning the title for an unprecedented fifth time. However, the World No.1 will not be competing at this year's event, opting instead to participate in Vienna and the Nitto ATP Finals.
