Rafael Nadal reached the 4th round of
Roland Garros and he was very quick about it which left him wondering whether that is a good or bad thing.
Rafael Nadal is through to the 4th round of Roland Garros and while that news isn't anything shocking the questions he raised post-match are fascinating ones. Not often do you hear a player wondering if he was too quick to win a match yet Nadal spoke about that exact thing post-match. He said:
“We are in a very strange situation after a lot of months without playing much tennis, especially for me [given that] I didn’t playing in America. So I don’t know if it is a positive thing or a negative thing [to win quickly]. I take it [as] a positive thing because I am playing quite well to win against a player like Stefano today.”
It's a fascinating thing to consider and while Nadal takes it as a positive there is something to be said about lack of matches. Some of that might have influenced his result in Rome which left him with some doubts.
Turning his attention to the match he spoke about the quick result as being an indicator that he did a lot of things well, and truly he did. Speaking of the match he said:
“The score is because I did a lot of things well. I played more aggressive than the previous days so I am very happy for that. I went to the net more often and I hit quite a lot of winners, my serve is working better. So let’s see. I need to keep going and hope to keep improving with every single day.”
