Holger Rune addresses the situation with the crowd last night in his match against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina “Just want to say that personally I hold nothing against the Spanish people & I look forward to come back to Madrid”
Holger Rune has taken to his Instagram story on Monday evening to clarify the situation with the crowd at the Madrid Open after losing out to Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina.
Rune was booed and vilified by the crowd after seemingly erasing a line call which was set to be looked at by the supervisor and also had stern words with umpire, Carlos Bernardes about the treatment of himself by the crowd.
"There was a lot of talk today about bad behaviour among Spanish fans last night. Yesterday the crowd didn't understand what was going on," said Rune.
"You cannot overrule a computer call and it took the umpire and supervisor very long time to explain this to my opponent."
"They didn't bother to communicate this to the crowd, next time I will take a nap while they discuss. Just want to say that personally I hold nothing against the Spanish people and I look forward to coming back."
