Nicolas
Jarry and his wife Laura Urrutia celebrated the birth of their son on social
media, bringing excitement to Chile's tennis future.
The Chilean
tennis player had a successful debut at the
Cincinnati Open, defeating Roman
Safiulin 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. However, he withdrew from the tournament before his
match against Alexey Popyrin.
Several
players withdrew from the tournament during the week due to injuries, including
Holger Rune, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Elena Rybakina, and Elina Svitolina.
A total of 9 players in the men's and women's draws left the tournament after
its start.
An
exception among the withdrawing players was Jarry, who traveled to Chile due to
the birth of his new son, Santiago.
Jarry and his wife Laura Urrutia, recently shared a photo on social media of
their family with the new addition, sparking optimism in Chile about the future
of his tennis:

Santi and congratulations to the family From @nicojarry and @laura_urrutia.”
Nicolas
Jarry's family has a tennis tradition, being the grandson of Jaime Fillol, one
of the most successful tennis players in the South American country with 24
titles and a highest ranking of world No. 14. His brother Alvaro was also a
tennis player in the 1970s, and Catalina Fillol, Jarry's aunt, is the director
of the ATP 250 Santiago Open.
Following
the joyful news for Jarry's family, the Chilean will quickly head to the US
Open, where he enters as the 25th seed. Jarry achieved his career-best ranking
on August 21st, reaching world No. 24.
This will
be the Chilean's fourth appearance in the
US Open main draw, but his first as a
seeded player. Jarry advanced past the first round only in 2018 and was
eliminated in the first round in 2019 and 2022.
