Nick Kyrgios hasn't played much tennis this year, competing for two consecutive weeks in Melbourne and reaching the third round at Melbourne 2 ATP 250 event and the Australian Open third round.
In his latest Instagram post, Nick shared footage from that epic Miami Open semi-final clash against Roger Federer in 2017, the one that lasted for over three hours and saw three tie breaks! Nick reminded his fans that no one could take away his victories over Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, no matter what happens in the future.
In that Miami clash against Roger, Nick gave his best to stay in touch and fight for the Masters 1000 final, standing a couple of points away from the finish line before Roger passed it before him. Like in Madrid 2015, the duel went down to the wire, and Federer prevailed 7-6(9), 6-7(9), 7-6(5) after three hours and ten minutes for his first Miami final in 11 years!
Federer and Kyrgios both grabbed one break in the opening set and pushed each other to the limits in the rest of the encounter to reach only seven deuces in sets two and three. In the end, Roger claimed the final set tie break 7-5 after Nick hit a costly double fault at 5-5 to ruin his chances of reaching the first Masters 1000 final.
