Novak Djokovic overcame a slow start against Cameron Norrie to beat the Brit 2-6 6-3 6-2 6-4 and secure the Wimbledon final.
It was a decently interesting semi-final matchup yet one that failed to come close to anything remotely spectacular. Djokovic played a very poor opening set struggling to find a rhythm and looking very uncomfortable in the opening set. Norrie was rather solid and was able to cruise to a 6-2 finish behind some solid play. Djokovic would settle into a nice rhythm in the 2nd set and apply early pressure onto Norrie.
The Brit held for a while despite showing tendencies to overly complicate matters for himself. This wants some spectacular match from Djokovic but he did just enough to force Norrie into rallies that he did not want to play. Most of those rallies finished with the Brit making a poor choice or slamming the ball wide. That is what happened in the 2nd set as well, with Djokovic taking it 6-3.
The next set was when Norrie's game continued to fall apart more and more. Djokovic was really solid, as a brick wall and Norrie had no idea how to break it down. He dropped his serve two times in that set losing it 2-6. The final set opened very bad for Norrie who squandered a 40-15 lead in the first game of the set. Mistakes like those were at fault for his loss with the inability to return well, another culprit.
Djokovic served very well in the final set and he was on top of Norrie in most rallies resulting in a rather comfortable 6-4 finish for the Serbian.
