Novak Djokovic has become the second player to qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals, joining Carlos Alcaraz at the Pala Alpitour in Turin in November.
World No. 2 Djokovic qualified for the prestigious ATP tournament after reaching the semi-finals at the Cincinnati Open this week. The 23-time Grand Slam champion overcame ninth seed Taylor Fritz on the evening of Friday, August 18, defeating the American 6-0, 6-4.
This marks the 16th time that the 36-year-old has qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals. The only other player to have confirmed their place so far is world No. 1 Alcaraz, who qualified for the second consecutive year after defeating Djokovic in a historic five-set thriller in the final of Wimbledon last month.

Djokovic continues impressive streak

The Nitto ATP Finals are the conclusive championship of the season, where the top eight players in the rankings face off against each other, making it the most significant event in the tennis calendar after the Grand Slams.
Djokovic has only failed to qualify for the Nitto ATP finals once since 2007, that being six years ago in 2017. Moreover, he equaled Roger Federer's record of six wins at the event last year, meaning he now has a chance to break the record in 2023.
The Serb will also be wanting to improve on his already impressive 46-17 record at the tournament, where only Federer has more match wins at 59-17.

Djokovic's path to the 2023 Finals

Djokovic's route to the Finals in 2023 has been full of success. The Big Three member has won two out of three Grand Slams so far this year at the Australian Open and the Roland Garros, and made the final of the SW19.
Djokovic also has a 36-5 record for this year, including an 8-3 record against other top-10-ranked players.
