Seven-time Grand Slam winner Belgium’s
Justine Henin
believes that Serbia’s legendary tennis star
Novak Djokovic is not there to please
anyone.
The 36-year-old is often regarded as the greatest player in
the history of men’s singles tennis in the Open era, having won as many as 24
Grand Slams.
Henin was recently quoted in a report where she stated that Djokovic
is not there to please anyone. In fact, his only objective is to win.
“We know that it is not always pleasant to have the public
who, all of a sudden, become hostile and support the opponent,” she said. “And
very intelligently, he cuts short what is happening and at the same time he
remobilizes himself. He has a lot of experience at this level.
“But I still think that in relation to this question of the
public, he is distancing himself more and more. He is no longer there to please
(the public), he is there to play and win, and, I think, that by finally doing
so, it still appeals to a lot of people.”
The Belgrade-born made a successful return after taking a long break following his triumph at the US Open.
Djokovic won the Paris Masters after
defeating Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov in the final in straight sets with a score
of 6-4, 6-3 on Sunday.
