A few days after calling him a tool, Nick Kyrgios is on Novak Djokovic's trail again. In Nick's opinion, Novak can't be considered the all-time greatest after losing both matches against him.
Novak and Nick played twice in a couple of weeks in 2017, with the Aussie prevailing in both for a perfect record against the previous decade's best player. Kyrgios defeated Djokovic 7-6, 7-5 in the 2017 Acapulco quarter-final, delivering Djokovic's earliest exit on hard court since the end of 2011! Nick produced fury behind the initial shot and lost only 15 points, saving the only break chance and stealing Novak's serve once in the closing stages of set number two to cross the finish line.
Kyrgios fended off a break point in the opener's sixth game and saved two set points in the tie break to steal it 11-9. Both players served well in set number two before Kyrgios scored a surprising break at love at 6-5 to move over the top.
Two rivals didn't have to wait for too long to set another meeting in the Indian Wells semi-final. Nick never faced a break point and created five chances on the return, converting one in a 6-4, 7-6 triumph.
"No matter how many Majors Novak wins, he will never be the greatest to me. I played against him twice, and if he can't beat me, you are not the greatest of all time," Nick Kyrgios said.
