Novak
Djokovic's return to the
Paris Masters will be marked by his
participation in the doubles, this time alongside his compatriot Miomir
Kecmanovic.
The World
No. 1 is coming back to the courts after skipping the Asian season, making this
his first tournament since winning the US Open. Djokovic is defending 600
points for reaching the final of Paris-Bercy, which he lost in 2022 to Holger
Rune.
This isn't
the only challenge for 'Nole' in the last Masters 1000 of the year. Besides
being the first seed in the singles main draw, he has also appeared on the entry
list for the doubles alongside fellow Serbian
Miomir Kecmanovic.
Although
not a regular in doubles draws, Djokovic recently played in the Cincinnati Open
alongside another compatriot, Nikola Cacic. However, they were eliminated in
the first round by doubles specialists Michael Venus and Jamie Murray, with a
score of 6-4, 6-2.
He also
played doubles recently in the Davis Cup representing Serbia, where he and his
partner faced the Czech pair of Tomas Machac and Adam Pavlasek and lost in a
close match with a score of 5-7, 7-6, 3-10.
The 24-time
Grand Slam champion still has three challenges marked on his calendar for this
year, with the first stop being in Paris-Bercy. After that, he will head to the
ATP Finals, where he must defend the title he won in 2022.
The year
will conclude with the Davis Cup, and 'Nole' has already announced his intent
to seek glory again alongside his country. This is why he is entering the main
draw for doubles, similar to what he did at the Cincinnati Open, considering
the matches that will be played in the Davis Cup, which will likely have him
competing in doubles.
Serbia is
in the quarterfinals of the tournament and will face Great Britain starting on
November 23. Djokovic was the main figure for his country when they won their
only Davis Cup in 2010.
