Novak Djokovic has announced the shock news on Wednesday morning that him and long-time coach, Goran Ivanisevic have split after six years together.
The World No.1 announced the news on social media that he and the former Wimbledon champion had decided to part ways after a partnership which gleamed transformations in his serve and also Djokovic reaching an undisputed 24 Grand Slam singles titles while with him.
But also shows a potential change in impetus is in the pipeline for the Serbian kingpin likely for the final time in his illustrious career after recent shocking losses at Indian Wells in particular where he was dumped out by Luca Nardi. As well as multiple defeats to Jannik Sinner. He started preparing in Belgrade on the clay this past Tuesday and will play Monte-Carlo where a new coach seemingly might be installed. But any inkling onto who it will be is not yet known.
“I remember clearly the moment I invited Goran to be part of my team. It was in 2018, and Marian and I were looking to innovate and bring some serve magic to our duo.
“In fact, not only we brought serve but also lots of laughter, fun, year-end No1 rankings, record-breaking achievements and 12 more grand slams (and a few finals) to the court since then.
“Goran and I decided to stop working together a few days ago. Our on-court chemistry had its ups and downs but our friendship was always rock solid. Thanks for everything my friend.”
