Serbia’s tennis star
Novak Djokovic has started training on
the clay court as he started his preparations for the Monte Carlo. The ATP 1000
event will take place in Monte Carlo, Monaco, from April 07-14.
According to the video released on the social media platform
X — previously known as Twitter — Djokovic has started preparing for the
mega-event.
The 36-year-old has won the competition two times but his
previous victory came in 2017 when he defeated the Czech Republic’s Tomas
Berdych in the final with a score of 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.
Djokovic also won the competition in 2015 when he defeated
the former world number one Rafael Nadal in straight sets with a score of 6-2,
7-56.
Nadal is the most successful player in the competition’s
history as he lifted the title 11 times. His most recent triumph came in 2018
when defeated Japan’s Kei Nishikori with a score of 6-3, 6-2.
Djokovic will be hoping to return to winning ways when he
takes the court in Monte Carlo, especially after having a rather slow start
to his 2024 campaign.
In his most recent outing, the current world number one was
knocked out of the ATP 1000 event at Indian Wells after losing to Italy’s Luca
Nardi in the round of 32 with a score of 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
