This year's edition of the Miami Open starts on March 24, and it will be the weakest one since the start of the Masters 1000 series in 1990!
After Rafael Nadal, Dominic Thiem and Roger Federer, the fourth top-6 player who will skip the Miami Open is the six-time champion Novak Djokovic. Novak should have been the top seed in the quest for the first Miami title since 2016, but he decided to skip the season's first Masters 1000 event and spend more time with his family ahead of the clay swing.
Thus, Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Alexander Zverev and Andrey Rublev should be the top seeds and the favorite to take home the title and notable 1000 ATP points.
"Dear fans, I'm very sorry to announce that this year I won't travel to Miami to compete. I decided to use this precious time at home to stay with my family. With all restrictions, I need to find balance in my time on tour and at home. I look forward to coming back next year!" Novak Djokovic said.
