At 23,
Alexander Zverev has already won 14 ATP titles, adding the newest trophy to his collection on Saturday night in Acapulco following a victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets.
Thus, Alexander has secured the sixth consecutive season with at least one ATP trophy, joining
Rafael Nadal,
Novak Djokovic and
Dominic Thiem as the fourth active player to achieve that in the previous years.
Alexander became the first teenager with an ATP title when he conquered St. Petersburg in 2016, establishing himself as one of the world's leading players in 2017 and 2018 after winning nine titles in total.
Zverev finished both seasons inside the top-4, losing ground in 2019 and winning only one small title in Geneva after many troubles. In the season behind us, the German had to wait until October to lift two ATP 250 titles at home in Cologne in consecutive weeks, saving the season after that terrible US Open final loss to Dominic Thiem from two sets to love up.
Zverev will celebrate at least one title in 2021 as well following his triumph in Acapulco, prevailing over Tsitsipas 6-4, 7-6 after over two hours. Zverev came from 4-1 down in the opening set with great response and remained calm in the second set's closing stages to seal the deal without playing a decider.
