Novak Djokovic's physio tracks his phone time to reach peak fitness

Novak Djokovic is known as one of the best athletes in the world who is in supreme physical condition and it's in large part due to his physio Ulises Badio.

The Argentine has worked with Djokovic since 2017 and since then he oversaw him become even stronger physically which makes him practically indestructible on the court. Djokovic has had his issues with fitness in the path but over time he perfects a routine that allows him to play at the top of his game.

Speaking to Sporta.rs following the latest Wimbledon triumph, Badio explained how they do everything in detail and how it all matters en route to the perfect physical shape Djokovic is in at the moment. He explained:

“I follow him constantly. Even when he’s sitting, to see how he’s standing, how much water he’s drunk or whether he’s been on the phone with someone for a long time: every little thing is important and can affect the game."

Badio has wanted to work with a top-flight tennis player for a long time and when Djokovic called he was eager to prove himself. It worked and one of the reasons is the serious nature by which Badio approaches his role:

“The responsibility for a tennis player like Novak is 200 per cent. When you treat an athlete at such a high level, you can always be on the verge of hurting him. You have to know in detail both his anatomy and your profession. For me, it was very important to have a great experience in my field of work and in this case be a little more open to an alternative and holistic philosophy. We work with him 24 hours a day.”
