Encrusted with a piece of the Eiffel Tower, the
Olympic Games medals will be highly coveted when the buildup begins prior to the tournament being played between July 27 - August 24, but with the beauty of them, many tennis fans are seeing
Rafael Nadal's perfect send off as being hoisting one of them either in singles or in doubles with Carlos Alcaraz.
Long a storyline for Nadal due to initially saying that potentially 2024 would be his final year and that he would know by the time the Olympic Games would come when his career would end, the courts of Paris prior to he US Open where traditionally like Wimbledon he has snubbed.
Also of course being the only time similar to London in 2012 where a surface would be used twice for a big tournament in a season with the clay which is Nadal's best surface being used in May and July both at Roland Garros. The 14-time champion will aim to reach 15 and even a 16th as anomaly technically if he claimed a gold medal.
Those on social media mooted that it would be the perfect send off and picked Nadal when asked who will be winning one. In the short term, Nadal will be playing in Doha next week as he aims to get his comeback back on track after injury derailed a magical opening at the Brisbane International and stopped him playing the Australian Open. But for others in the Olympic hunt like Novak Djokovic, he has never won one and so with the Golden Slam also out the picture, he will look to stop any inkling of a golden farewell. For now though fans can dream heading towards the Olympic cycle and Nadal's next stop will see him dream of one final fairytale run.
