Daniil Medvedev is through to the semi-finals of the US Open after seeing off Andrey Rublev in a match marred by the conditions on court in Flushing Meadows.
Medvedev had a brutal reaction to the searing heat, with temperatures topping 33 degrees with 50% humidity which is due to get worse over the next two days.
He simply said during change overs: “One player is gonna die. And they’re gonna see.”
Still though, he managed to get through and will face the winner of Carlos Alcaraz v Alexander Zverev.

- It's been an ongoing issue for too long now. Even though it's not our business to know the details... it's worrisome; disconcerting even. "Gastrointestinal" covers many things. My concern, as an Ulcerative Colitis patient since 1976, is that she has some form of Colitis. I recognize reactions and symptoms. If so, perhaps knowing this others would be encouraged by her own courage in plowing forth while dealing.
