Denmark’s tennis star
Holger Rune’s time at Monte-Carlo came
to an end in the singles category on Friday after he suffered a defeat to the
current world number two Italy’s
Jannik Sinner in the quarterfinal with a score
of 6-4, 6-7, 6-3.
Despite his performance off the court, one thing that gathered
all the attention of the fans during the match was Rune’s mother vaping sitting
in the stands. The video went viral on social media platform X—previously known
as Twitter — where fans had a lot to say about it and some made extremely
interesting comments.
"Holger Rune's mum vaping mid-match has to be the most
iconic tennis parent moment ever,” one user wrote. “Oracene refused to stand even Serena won slams. That’s the most iconic tennis parent moment," another user
wrote.
This was Rune’s second quarterfinal defeat this season as
previously he was also knocked out of the ATP 1000 event at Indian Wells where he
lost to the current world number four Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in the
last-eight clash in straight sets with a score of 7-5, 6-4.
Rune was also knocked out of the competition in the men’s doubles
category as well as he along with his partner America’s Taylor Fritz lost to Marcelo
Melo and Germany’s Alexander Zverev in the quarterfinal with a score of 6-2,
7-6.
