Patrick Mouratoglou gives verdict on whether Alexander Zverev's Grand Slam title hopes are over

Although he was once touted as the future of men's tennis, Alexander Zverev has failed to accomplish the one feat that would justify these claims, winning a Grand Slam singles title.
The German superstar has reached three different Grand Slam finals, but has fallen short on each occasion. His most recent exploit came at the 2025 Australian Open, where he lost to World No.1 Jannik Sinner in straight sets.
Zverev's window of opportunity is still open, says Mouratoglou
The World No.2 has reached to other finals, the 2020 US Open and the 2024 French Open, where he fell to Austrian Dominic Thiem and Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz respectively. Zverev is on fast pace to become the best player never to win a Grand Slam title, having captured several Masters trophies and an Olympic gold medal.
In a post on his official Instagram account, renown coach Patrick Mouratoglou was asked if Zverev still had a chance at winning a Major title. The Frenchman admitted it would be difficult, but not impossible.
"I think there are still things he needs to improve in his game," said Mouratoglou. "In today’s world, with the top players, not easy, but he can."
After reaching the Australian Open final in January, Zverev has had a poor run of form. The 27-year old has failed to reach the semifinals in four tournaments where he was the top seed, with his most recent loss being an opening round exit at the hands of Tallon Griekspoor at Indian Wells.
