Mirra Andreeva continues win streak, thrashes Elena Rybakina to reach Indian Wells Quarter-Finals

It continues to be so simple for Mirra Andreeva who is through to the Quarter-Finals of the Indian Wells Open beating Elena Rybakina with ease for the second time in two weeks 6-1, 6-2.
Andreeva needed three sets to win in Dubai last month on her way to the title but didn't need as much trouble as she dominated in one hour and three minutes at Indian Wells albeit through rain delays too at that.
Andreeva won six straight games in coasting to the first set. Throughout this, there was a rain delay at four games in which also disrupted Elina Svitolina's monumental comeback win over Jessica Pegula.
But she won four straight games also in the second set quickly getting back in the groove after losing serve at the start. Now she has won nine straight matches and is the youngest player through to the Quarter-Finals since Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova at 17 all the way back in 2009.
It was the first tie between the pair not to go three sets. Rybakina previously won in China back in 2023 but Andreeva now has back-to-back wins. Rybakina's big power game was nullified as she could only strike four winners against Andreeva who hit 19.
But in addition, Rybakina hit 33 unforced errors in two sets nearly double that of Andreeva who hit 19 showcasing a pretty nightmarish day at the office for Rybakina as Andreeva now moves on to a tie with Elina Svitolina.
"I knew that the match was going to be incredibly tough," Andreeva said post-match on court. "She's won the tournament here, I think she feels very comfortable playing on these courts, so I just found a great mindset for this match and I just tried to fight for every point.
"I was so excited to play tonight ... with all the courage, I just went on court and tried to show the best level of tennis."
