"People hope I will lose everything and never win a Grand Slam" Rune clarifies social media comments with outburst after Wawrinka spat

Holger Rune is not happy with the ATP and how they approach protecting their players from online hate as he's getting tired of getting it all the time.

Rune hasn't been playing very good tennis this year at least in terms of his potential. He's had fair results but he could be much better but something is simply not working. After another loss to Wawrinka, Rune took to social media to bash fans leaving hateful comments to him after the match.

He continued ranting about the topic on Twitter responding to several replies. He suggested that hateful behavior is not only present in sports but also in society in general mentioning schools:

“Don’t think people will (change for the better) before it makes them feel bad. No one dares to stand out. So I think a good start would be to block or erase. Not just in sports but clearly a massive problem in schools also."

He added:

“I read that the reason why most children are sad is because of bad comments on social media’s."

And more:

“That’s just not ok and I don’t understand that public media like the ATP Tour and others allow these comments and don’t erase. If 20 people write shit then others will feel it’s ok too.”

And conluded with:

“I am not afraid of critics. I am talking about writing useless shit, sending clown faces or writing I am an idiot and people hope I will lose everything and never win a grand slam. These comments and those people are unintelligent."
