Players continue to voice discontent with quarantine in Melbourne

Since the mandatory quarantine for tennis players attending the Australian Open started many came forward voicing discontent with it.

One of the latest to do so was Roberto Bautista Agut who was interviewed by an Israeli station. The reporter asked the mild-mannered Spaniard whether he was in prison because he looked tired and he replied it was the same. He slammed the Victorian government:

"These people have no idea about tennis, about practice courts, no idea about anything. It’s a complete disaster because of that, because of the control of everything."

He also pointed out it's not Tennis Australia's fault but the government who imposed very strict rules. Tennis Australia was also slammed earlier by Jeremy Chardy who complained that Adelaide allowed players quarantining there more freedom which was denied by Craig Tiley.

But after pictures of Osaka circulated the internet training with her full staff and not social distancing players based in Melbourne were furious. Respected journalist Luca Fiorino wrote on Twitter:

“A revolt broke out. The players are not very happy about the unequal treatment in relation to big players in Adelaide."

It's a very complex situation that is still developing but the fallout from this will be huge and the impact on the event will be significant. We will update you as more news break out.
