The schedule for the first day of the much-awaited
Laver Cup
2023 has been announced.
The competition is unique in nature where two teams with the
name of Europe and the World takes on each other.
The 2023 edition of the competition is set to begin on Friday
and the schedule has been announced.
The first match will be between France’s
Arthur Fils and America’s
young sensation
Ben Shelton. It will be the first meeting between the two.
The second match will be between Spain’s Alejandro
Davidovich Fokina and Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo. It will be the first
time when these two will come face to face.
The third singles match in the day will be between French
veteran tennis star Gael Monfils and Canada’s Felix Auger Aliassime.
The two have faced off once before where the 37-year-old
came out on top with a score of 6-2, 6-4 back in February 2020.
The fourth and final match of the day will be a doubles
contest where Russia’s Andrey Rublev will partner with Fils and will take on
America’s duo of Tommy Paul and Frances Tiafoe.
In the past five editions, team Europe has been the dominant
force as they won on four occasions. It was only the last year when Team World
came out on top.
