While Rafael Nadal has slim hopes of a singles medal given that he will likely face Novak Djokovic in the second round at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, his doubles with Carlos Alcaraz looks slightly simpler.
The draw was confirmed on Thursday morning with the tournament starting on Saturday July 27 with the new team facing off against Gonzalez and Molteni who are the Argentine sixth seeds. But it looks up if they get through that tie.
Tallon Griekspoor and Wesley Koolhof or Marton Fucsovics and Fabian Marozsan are in the second round with only one of those players for the Netherlands and Hungary being a viable doubles threat. Then in the same section only Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram stand out.
Other than those, it is Thiago Monteiro and Thiago Seyboth-Wild for Brazil, Bublik and Nedovyesov for Kazakhstan and Alexei Popyrin and Alex de MInaur for Australia. So full of singles players which gives a better chance for the team now known as Nadalcaraz. Top seeds are Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori with Musetti seemingly deciding against playing after Sinner's withdrawal. They will face Pablo Carreno Busta and Marcel Granollers.
While other ties to watch include Andy Murray's retirement match against former rival Kei Nishikori with Dan Evans while the latter teams with Taro Daniel. Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul too stand out as they face Felix Auger-Aliassime and Milos Raonic in USA v Canada.
