It was a very good match between
Rafael Nadal and
Jannik Sinner with the Spaniard moving on to R3 at the Internazionali BNL d'Italia.
A two-hour match between Nadal and Sinner was the final match played on Wednesday and it saw Nadal emerge victoriously. The Spaniard embraces the challenge of fighting against the next-gen players who have been on the rise lately. Now he demonstrated that fight on the court and he was very good.
The players traded early breaks in the first two games and once again a couple of games later. Nadal was applying pressure on Sinner but the Italian handled it very well. at 5-4 Sinner was able to save 3 consecutive set points to stay in the match. He would save a couple more at 6-5 for Nadal but the Spaniard found a way to win it 7-5.
Sinner did not get discouraged and started the 2nd set very focused. He found a way to break Nadal early and take a 3-1 lead thanks to his focused play. Nadal had chances to break back but Sinner remained calm. The first actual break point for Nadal came at 4-3 which Nadal converted to make it 4-4.
A couple of games later Nadal would have match points on 5-4 but Sinner saved two of them. Nadal got his 3rd and it was the decisive one with the Spaniard using it to end a very good match. Nadal moves on to R3 in search of his 10th Rome title.
