With his legendary career approaching it's end, Spanish tennis superstar Rafael Nadal has left the window open for a stint in the coaches box when all is said and done.
The former World No.1 is currently recovering from hip surgery that derailed his 2023 season, during which he has played only four matches with the last being at the Australian Open in January. The 22-time Grand Slam champion is hoping to return to action at the same event next season, with 2024 possibly being his final year on tour.
In an interview with Movistar, Nadal stated he would also be associated with tennis even after he hangs up his racket. Furthermore, the 37-year old admitted he would consider a stint in coaching, although it would likely not be on a full-time basis.
"Why not? I don't know, but I know it won't be the bulk of my life," said the Spaniard. "Maybe a few weeks with someone, why not... I come from tennis, sports in general, and I know that sport will always be a part of my life."
During his distinguished career, Nadal has amassed 22 singles Grand Slam titles, the second-most among male players, in addition to 36 ATP Masters 1000 titles and being ranked as ATP's World No. 1 for 209 weeks.
