Greece’s tennis star
Stefanos Tsitsipas has stated that the presence
of her girlfriend Spain’s
Paula Badosa has helped her ‘a lot’.
The two have been in a relationship for a while and are seen as a powerful couple in the world of tennis.
Tsitsipas was quoted in a report recently where he stated
that the presence of someone like Badosa has helped in changing his approach towards
the game.
“Her presence in my life helps me a lot,” he said. “She has
changed my approach to the game in a way that I never expected."
Talking about his objective, Tsitsipas stated that reaching the
very top remains his primary objective but admitted that it is not ‘everything’
for him.
“I certainly think about it a lot, but the top isn’t
everything,” he said. “I was addicted to this target when I was younger and
this deprived me of something. This doesn’t mean that I’m not happy with what I
have accomplished; I do want to improve as a player.
“But the key is finding a balance between your private life,
building something with someone, and moving ahead in your career, with that
person’s help.”
Tsitsipas is coming on the back of a disappointing season on
her personal level. He started 2023 in a great manner when he reached the
final of the Australian Open but lost to the current world number one Serbia’s
legendary tennis star Novak Djokovic with a score of 6–3, 7–6(7–4), 7–6(7–5).
However, from there on, not much went right for the world
number five who was knocked out from the quarterfinal of the French Open after
losing to world number two Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz with a score of 6-2, 6-1,
7-6.
In Wimbledon, Tsitsipas was knocked out in the fourth round
whereas in the US Open, he crashed out of the tournament in the second round.
