Roger Federer was in a lot of trouble against Adrien Mannarino trailing 1-2 at one point but an injury prevented the Frenchman from continuing the match.
Roger Federer looked decent in his first match at
Wimbledon but he also faced quite a bit of trouble before he was sent to R2 by Mannarino who retired from the match due to injury. The result was 2-2 at the time and Federer just won the 4th set with 6-2.
Federer played well in the first set as he dominated play with his forehand that Mannarino could not handle. The first set concluded with a 6-4 Federer win and we went to the 2nd. The 2nd set was a curious one as both player played well enough to win their service game.
We ended up in a tiebreak where Federer completely collapsed committing mistake after mistake with his forehand. Mannarino won it 7-3 to level up the match. The 3rd set featured good play by Mannarino who was not missing much while Federer was all over the place. The Frenchman won it 6-3.
The 4th set featured better play by Federer who was able to take an early lead but Mannarino soon injured himself on a play that looked bad. He called the trainer and continued but it was evident he could not go. Federer won the set with 6-2 and Mannarino retired.
