A couple of hours after his last Dubai practice session, Roger Federer took a flight to Doha ahead of his next week's return at the ATP 250 event.
The three-time Qatar Open champion will seek the first title in the desert in ten years, skipping the last 14 months due to a knee injury and choosing Doha as the first return stop. Federer feels confident about the long-awaiting return, sharing his excitement with the fans and saying he is in the right place despite all the setbacks.
Federer's most recent match came against Novak Djokovic at the last year's Australian Open, experiencing a knee injury and undergoing two surgeries in February and May.
"Here we are; we are about to take a flight to Doha. It's been a year since I traveled to any event, and I can tell that I'm very excited. I want to thank all the people involved who made this possible.
It's been a long and hard road, I'm not at the finish line yet, but I feel I am in the right place. I've been practicing very well and feel just really pumped up. I hope you guys will tune it to watch my matches, and I hope I can see you again very soon," Roger Federer said.
