After a multi-year battle with injuries, Austrian Dominic Thiem will call finally hang up his tennis racket after this year's Vienna Open on his home turf later this month.
Thiem is a four-time Grand Slam finalist, capturing his lone Major title at the 2020 US Open. Furthermore, the Vienna native reached a career-high ranking of World No.3, and is one of the ew men to have defeated all members of the legendary Big Three; Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.

Following his victory at the 2020 US Open, Thiem began facing problems with his wrist. The injury sidelined him for close to a year, and the Austrian was never able to rediscover his form during his numerous attempts at a comeback.
In May 2024, Thiem announced he would be retiring at this year's Vienna Open. The tournament is slated to kick off on October 21, and thus it came as no surprise that Thiem was honored with the Lotterien Sporthilife-Gala 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award on Thursday evening. However, each member of the Big Three made the event even more special, sending in emotional messages as the Austrian prepares to bid farewell to the sport they all love.
"Tennis will miss you very, very much," stated Federer. Nadal added: "You know how much I admire you," and Djokovic said: "Thank you for everything you gave us all."

My #1 complaint about coaching kids is Problem Parents!! It can be a very abusive, even violent situation with many parents when it comes to their kid's sports. In the end, it was no longer worth the potential (all too common) altercations for me and I quit.
