Rafael Nadal's return to the ATP circuit is getting closer and closer after spending practically all of 2023 on the sidelines due to a hip injury suffered during the last Australian Open. The Spaniard, in fact, is already thinking about clay, as he is the first player confirmed to play the Barcelona Open 2024.
The Spanish tennis legend will officially return in January during the Brisbane International, where he will play his first tournament of what, in principle, will be the last year of his professional career, although the final decision has not yet been taken.
However, Nadal is already thinking about the preparation for Roland Garros, the Grand Slam where he is the player with the most titles in the history of the Open era, with no less than 14. The Spaniard is the first confirmed to play the Barcelona Open, also known as the Conde de Godó Trophy.
In the Conde de Godo Rafael Nadal is also the tennis player who has won the tournament the most times, with 12 titles. Most likely he will face Carlos Alcaraz at some point of the tournament, since the number 2 of the ATP ranking is the winner of the last two editions, and will surely also dispute the event in search of revalidating once again his victory.
