Andrey Rublev will play in the Halle Open final today trying to do something he didn't do two years ago when he lost to Ugo Humbert in the final of the same event.
Andrey Rublev has been one of the best performers on the ATP 500 series winning trophies from that category pretty much every year. He has multiple trophies from that category already but one thing that he's missing is an ATP 500 trophy on grass. The Russian narrowly missed out on that two years ago when he stood in the Halle final. He took on Ugo Humbert but was beaten by the French player who denied him the trophy.
Two years later Rublev is once again in the final and he'll try to get it done because winning the trophy would actually get him his maiden trophy on grass. It's the only surface that he doesn't have a trophy on and there is a record in play there.

First to do it

No player has ever won an ATP 500 trophy on all surfaces. Federer never did it, Djokovic hasn't done it and neither has Nadal so if Rublev wins the Halle Open, he'll become the first player ever to have an ATP 500 trophy on all three major surfaces. He's won one on hard courts before and one on clay courts before but he's missing that grass one.
Interestingly Rublev could have done this two years ago in 2021 as well but Humbert denied him that. Two years later and nobody still did it which gives Rublev a chance to get it done and prove that he truly is the ATP 500 king. His opponent is Alexander Bublik, a player who has been on fire this week seemingly looking unbeatable. Rublev already dropped finals this year so it could be interesting.
