Former world number 10
Sam Querrey is hoping to see Spain’s legendary tennis star
Rafael Nadal provide a ‘closure’ for his fans when he takes the court in the upcoming
French Open. The second Grand Slam of the
year will be played from May 26 to June 09, and players from all over the
world will participate to showcase their talent and battle for the ultimate.
This year’s competition will be even more special because the
most successful player in the tournament’s history, Nadal, will be featuring in
it for the last time despite concerns regarding his fitness. Querrey was
recently quoted in a report where he expressed his wish that the fans of the 37-year-old
will get to see a full ‘closure’ when the former world number one will take
part in court at the Roland Garros for the final time in the coming days.
"I hope he plays,” he said. “Even if he loses to, let’s
call it a Hurkacz in the first round, 6-1, 6-2, 6-1. As a tennis fan, I want to
see what the embrace is like from the crowd on Center Court as he walks off
with a 30-minute celebration, people will be crying. As a fan, I need the
closure. I need to see how it’s going to end. He can’t just walk away into the
darkness now. He owes it to the world to walk out there and like, no one will
care if he gets crushed first round, I don’t think.”
