With the US Open adopting a new format for the mixed doubles tournament this summer, Greek star Stefanos Tsitsipas has revealed he will be competing at the event.

The World No.11 rarely ventures into the world of doubles, although he has occasionally played men's doubles alongside his younger brother, Petros Tsitsipas. However, as the US Open plans to implement new rules that will allow top-ranked singles players to compete, Tsitsipas has stated his intentions to compete at Flushing Meadows this year.

Tsitsipas to team up with a very familiar face

The two-time Grand Slam runner-up made this announcement following his victory over Lorenzo Sonego at the ongoing Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships. The former World No.3 revealed he would be competing alongside girlfriend, WTA star Paula Badosa.

"We are planning to play," said Tsitsipas. "She's the mixed doubles partner I would always play with. I don't have any other options out there or any other female player that I would want to play mixed doubles with. She's always under my consideration and always someone I would want to share the court with."

The pair played together at the US Open last year. With the revamped mixed doubles rules in play, more singles stars have announced their intentions to compete at the event. Australian tennis star Alex de Minaur has confirmed he will be playing alongside fiancé, British WTA star Katie Boulter.
