Jannik Sinner is well on his way to becoming one of the greats in tennis. The Italian is an exceptional talent on the court, and at only 23 years old, he has a long career ahead of him.

As the three-time Grand Slam winner continues to add to his collection of titles, comparisons to legends like Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are inevitable. Federer's longtime agent, Tony Godsick, has shared his thoughts on where Sinner currently stands in tennis.

Sinner is on another level right now

Since turning pro in 2018 at a remarkably young age, Sinner has taken the tennis world by storm, rapidly ascending the rankings. He is already a three-time Grand Slam champion, with two Australian Open titles and one US Open title. He also claimed the ATP Finals title, where he defeated Taylor Fritz, just as he did at the US Open, to secure victory.

The 23-year-old also led Italy to their first Davis Cup victory in 47 years. These achievements at such a young age highlight Sinner's potential and suggest that even more silverware will come his way.

In an interview with La Stampa, Godsick discussed how Sinner compares to the likes of Federer and Nadal.

"Currently, as a global star, he cannot replace Federer or Nadal. But the people love him, he plays a [type of] tennis that I like a lot, and he knows how to give his best in the moments that matter."

"I don't know if he can become a legend like Roger or Rafa, but he is on the right path. He is serious, very professional, behaves well on the court, and does not do stupid things off it. In this, he reminds me of Roger."

More competition ahead—will we see him in the Laver Cup?

At the moment, the top players in the world appear to be Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, but Godsick believes more competition is coming.

"They are the best for now, but soon they will have good competition. [Joao] Fonseca, [Alex] Michelsen, [Learner] Tien, [Jakub] Mensik, and Tommy Paul are all strong. After 20 years dominated by three players, there will be more balance."

"Tennis always produces champions; today, it is in excellent health. And the Italian one is in splendid shape."

Godsick, who co-founded the Laver Cup alongside Federer, was asked whether we will see the world number one participate this year.

"I don't think so this year in San Francisco," Godsick said. "We have always invited him, but unfortunately, he doesn't play many special events. He is very careful with his schedule, and rightly so, as it has taken him exactly where he wanted to be—No. 1."

Sinner is a sensational talent, and it will be fascinating to see how his career unfolds.
