Daniil Medvedev admits that he is unsure whether he will reach his peak against Carlos Alcaraz in the final of 2024
Indian Wells Open, but he will certainly be trying to and that he tries his best all the time.
Medvedev came back to defeat Tommy Paul 1-6, 7-6(3), 6-2 to reach back-to-back finals at Indian Wells. Now a rematch with Alcaraz awaits instead of one with Jannik Sinner. He was a 6-3, 6-2 loser last year and he will hope that the same result doesn't await this time around. He has been in superb form this week albeit nearly lost to Paul who suffered with a late injury.
But when quizzed on his mindset outside of the majors, he said his only focus is Alcaraz, but that he wants to not focus just on Grand Slams and wants to be in good form and win titles all the time.
"I don't have an exact answer to your question, to be honest. I'm just trying my best all the time. Sometimes my best is very good. Sometimes it's not. Let's hope tomorrow it's going to be very good," he said.
"I want to try to find this balance where I'm not thinking only about the Grand Slams. It's four tournaments in a year. I want to try to win more than just Grand Slams. I want to try to play good in other tournaments."
