Serbia’s
Novak Djokovic is often regarded as the greatest player
in the history of men’s singles tennis in the Open era. He has won 24 Grand
Slam titles, the most by any player in the men’s singles category.
Despite those staggering numbers, there are still some major
achievements to be achieved by the 36-year-old. Those records include more
title wins, most matches won, most Wimbledon titles and most US Open titles.
Two of those records are held by legendary America’s Jimmy
Connors (most titles and most match victories). Swiss legendary tennis player
Roger Federer holds the record for most Wimbledon titles (eight) whereas Connors,
Federer and Pete Sampras hold the record for most US Open titles (five).
Currently, Djokovic has won 97 titles in his career, 1,084
match victories, seven Wimbledon titles and four US Open victories. The
current world number one is taking part in the ATP Finals in the Italian city
of Turin.
The Belgrade-born has already defeated Denmark’s Holger Rune
in the first group match of the competition on Sunday with a score of 7-6, 6-7,
6-3. His next opponent will be the world number four Italy’s Jannik Sinner. The
two will face off in a mouthwatering tie on Tuesday.
