Grigor in good company…
Following his superb performance over the past two weeks on the ATP tour, Grigor Dimitrov is inching closer to another milestone as he falls just behind Kei Nishikori in terms of match wins among active players.
The Bulgarian overcame some stern resistance from rising Kazakh star Alexander Shevchenko to secure his spot in the semifinals of the Rotterdam Open, where he will face Australian ace Alex De Minaur. Prior to this week's event, Dimitrov finished runner-up to hometown hero Ugo Humbert in Marseille last week, and the 32-year old seems to be experiencing a resurgence at this point in his career.
Following his quarterfinal win in Rotterdam, the former World No.3 has accumulated 425 wins to 275 losses. His number of wins places him within the top 10 of active players with the best win-loss record, as he currently sits at 9th position. Nishikori is within Dimitrov's grasp, as the Japanese star has a 433-212 win-loss record. With Nishikori out of form and dealing with injuries, the 2014 US Open runner-up is not likely to put much distance between himself and Dimitrov, who could catch up to the former World No.4 should he maintain his current good form.
World No.1 Novak Djokovic still sits atop the list, with a 1094-215 win-loss record. Trailing the Serbian is 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal, who has a 1070-221 record. Former World No.1 Andy Murray rounds out the top 3, as the Brit sits with a 733-254 win-loss record among active players.
