Greece’s
Stefanos Tsitsipas star has received criticism from
fans for putting up a video explaining his point of view about the roles of men
and women in life. The 25-year-old has somewhat stayed in the news for different
reasons. After sharing a rather controversial video, the two-time Grand Slam runner-up has found himself again in the headlines.
The world number 11, in a post on his official account on
the social media platform Instagram, shared a video where it explained the
roles of men and women in life. The video showed a man and a
woman operating in their daily lives where some of the lines offended fans on social media which stated: “He provides and
protects, I [the woman] multiply. He is the head of the family, I am the heart…He
provides the ingredients, I make the meal,"
That video did not go down well with the fans who lambasted
the Greek tennis star on the on the social media platform X — previously known
as Twitter. “This is actually DISGUSTING from Tsitsipas. Very disappointing,”
one fan wrote. “I'm always so damn close to liking Stefanos Tsitsipas but then,”
another one wrote.
On the court, Tsitsipas is going through a mixed campaign. The
Athens-born star most recently participated in the Halle Open where he was
knocked out in the second round after losing to Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff in
straight sets with a score of 6-4, 6-4.
Before that, Tsitsipas participated in the French Open where
he lost in the quarterfinal to Spain’s young tennis star Carlos Alcaraz with a
score of 6-3, 7-6, 6-4.
Tsitsipas’ most impressive outing came during the Monte-Carlo
Masters where he lifted the title after beating Norway’s Casper Ruud in the final
in straight sets with a score of 6-1, 6-4. He also played in the final of the
Barcelona Open but came second best while facing Ruud who came out on top with
a score of 7-5, 6-3.
