Stefanos Tsitsipas was able to complete a comeback win against
Andy Murray who put forward a vintage performance 2-6 7-6(7) 3-6 6-3 6-4.
Andy Murray was rolling back the years early as the British player was playing some fabulous tennis that completely caught Stefanos Tsitsipas off guard. The Greek player was not sure what was going on as Murray routinely closed out the 1st set with 6-2. Murray did not allow a single break point in the opening set. He would allow a few in the 2nd set yet it would finish in the tiebreak.
Murray had two break points at 4-4 but failed to convert them. The same thing happened in the tiebreak where he had two set points at 6-4 but once again failed to convert. Tsitsipas won the tiebreak 9-7 and it seemed like the Greek cracked the code.
Proving that this match is an instant classic, Murray once again played some fabulous tennis to take an early 3-0 lead. He would hold on to it to win the 3rd set with 6-3. Murray was pumped after that set yelling "I'm not ** done" before sitting down.
Murray was also not happy about the Greek's toilet breaks which was not a surprise. Upon resumption of the match, Tsitsipas was completely dominant as Murray could not find a rhythm. The Greek quickly stormed to a 6-2 4th set finish. Tsitsipas continued playing well in the 5th speeding up play which did not suit Murray.
The British player was visibly tired playing against a much younger opponent in peak physical condition. The match lasted close to 5 hours and Tsitsipas simply had an edge towards the end of the match. He closed out Murray with a 6-4 final set win.
