Stefanos Tsitsipas may have lost himself more fans, as he again resorted to questionable antics in his first round match against
Andy Murray at the
US Open.
The World No.3 is becoming renown for taking extended bathroom breaks during his matches, with his most recent occurring when he faced
Alexander Zverev in Cincinnati two weeks ago. However, Tsitsipas resorted to the same tactics in his first round match against Murray in New York, during which he took an extended bathroom break late in the match as Murray was beginning to build momentum.
The Greek spent eight minutes in the bathroom, during which he also changed his kit. Murray was of course unhappy with the delay in proceedings, even going as far as asking the umpire if he "thought it was good" that Tsitsipas was taking so long.
Tsitsipas eventually returned, and was given a time violation for his conduct. However, the third seed would go on to win the five-set thriller, after almost five hours of play.
