He blew a kiss to a group of disrespectful fans who were heckling him all game and then waved goodbye and he confirmed why on social media after sealing his win which set up later a clash with compatriot Taylor Fritz. He said that the group of fans were talking inappropriately about his girlfriend, family and team for the whole two and a half hours.
He said that it gave him inner motivation to find a way through a tough tie at the Foro Italico and. He received further jeering from the set of fans after the gesture but it proved to fuel the fire instead of putting it out.
