The LTA is under threat of full suspension if they issue a ban to Russian and Belarussian players this year leaving the future of Eastbourne and Queen's in doubt.
The iconic grass tournaments have been hugely popular events leading to the most prestigious event in the world - Wimbledon. Last year's events went on without Russian and Belarussian players but the LTA has been warned not to repeat that this year because they might be suspended from holding any events if they repeat it.
It leaves the future of these events up in the air with chatter suggesting that a ban might be repeated. Despite that, it's widely expected that the LTA does a U-turn and allows players to compete this year. That is unless the government steps in and doesn't issue visas to those players which is a possibility.
Last year's ban was imposed on the suggestion of the government which resulted in heavy fines for the LTA. One highly placed source revealed to the Daily Mail:
"The situation is extremely serious and one that I don’t think a lot of people have appreciated the full impact of."
