Tennis journalist Geoffrey Chizever has shut down talk about Medvedev being overrated explaining that he's put himself among the elite.
Medvedev didn't follow up his 2021 campaign in the best of ways failing to reach the highest of heights in 2022. It was a very good year overall for him but he didn't do as much as fans hoped after becoming world number one.
Geoffrey Chizever explained why he's still an elite player and far away from being overrated as some might believe:
“After Medvedev got the win over Djokovic at the US Open,
where he kind of munched him up, so to speak, you know, it was an easy
win. It was kind of like, ‘Oh man! He is up there,’ “But, with that win against Sinner, he’s now 5-0 against Sinner and FAA (6-0 against Felix Auger-Aliassime)."
He continued:
"So, I tend to look at the ranking as in tiers. So because he’s still kind of separated himself from those two players that are a little bit younger than him. So, No. I will not go with overrated. I will definitely not do that.”
