Dominic Thiem is into his first semi-final of the season at his home tournament of the Kitzbuhel Open in Austria. A 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over Arthur Rinderknech on Thursday evening sealed his progression.
Next up will be Laslo Djere on Friday afternoon, with Sebastian Baez - Tomas Martin Etcheverry two of the biggest name seeds in the draw living up to their billing by reaching the semi-finals.
Djere himself came straight from reaching the final of Hamburg losing to Alexander Zverev to reach at least another semi-final.
Finishing in just under two and a half hours, he immediately went 2-0 down with a break in the opening set and this proved pivotal as he didn't taste a single break point opportunity in the set.
But in the second set, he did so at 3-1. Albeit sealing it on his sixth attempt which again proved the difference with Thiem easing home on his service game barring to go 5-2 up in the end to claim it 6-3.
In the final set, he broke at 2-1 which again like the other two sets was a pivotal moment as he didn't give Rinderknech a chance to break back and edged home on his first match point at 40-15 at 6-4 up.
