Serbia’s legendary tennis star
Novak Djokovic has left Nike
red faced after yet another ATP title.
The 36-year-old lifted the
Paris Masters after beating
Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov in the final in straight sets with a score of 6-4,
6-3.
The victory must’ve left sportswear brand Nike who opted to
sign Spanish tennis star
Carlos Alcaraz after his triumph at the Wimbledon
earlier this year.
The 20-year-old became the talk of the town after defeating
Djokovic in the final in a five-set thriller with a score of 1–6, 7–6(8–6),
6–1, 3–6, 6–4.
Nike posted a caption “The Alcaraz Era is upon us"
after signing the Spanish tennis star on their official account on the social media platform X — previously known
as Twitter.
That post, however, did not go down well for the current
world number two who has not won a single title since then.
On the other hand, Djokovic went on to win the fourth and
final Grand Slam of the year — the US Open — after defeating Russia’s Daniil Medvedev
in the final with a score of 6-3, 7-6, 6-3.
Before that, the
current world number one also went on to win the Cincinnati Open where he
defeated Alcaraz in the final with a score of 5-7, 7-6, 7-6.
