The
Davis Cup Finals Group Stage teams continue to get confirmed and Team USA are missing a lot of major names when they take to Zhuhai between 10-15 September.
Taylor Fritz,
Tommy Paul,
Ben Shelton and
Frances Tiafoe all have not been included in the team and likely have snubbed the chance to play due to the proximity of the US Open which concludes in the days prior.
The US Open will run between August 19 to September 8 and so there is minimal turnaround time to get to China. But Sebastian Korda and Brandon Nakashima in singles have decided to make the trip and headline their line-up.
They are joined by Marcos Giron as the other main singles star with doubles specialists Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram for the group that also includes a Germany without Alexander Zverev. Bob Bryan is their captain for the tilt at the title which begins in September and concludes in November meaning we are likely to get changes if they make it through.
It is likely that those prior will potentially sub into the team and also with three changes up to Bob Bryan, he could yet add a big name back in similar to Great Britain with Henry Patten not included. So it is not all fully set. But also the
Laver Cup the week after
includes Paul, Fritz and Shelton so they have likely decided to play that instead.
Carlos Alcaraz for instance has decided to play all three of US Open, Davis Cup and Laver Cup and Jannik Sinner will play the former two. The latter is curious as he has not been invited priorly to the Laver Cup so hasn't played. But likely would snub the invite to play for the champions instead.
