America’s
Denis Kudla has announced his retirement from
professional tennis. The 32-year-old announced the development in a detailed post on the social media platform Instagram, where they shared a lot of pictures of him with a number of big-name players, including the likes of Serbia’s legendary tennis star
Novak Djokovic and former world number one Switzerland’s
Roger Federer.
"Thank you Tennis, this journey has come to an end,” he
wrote. “I want to thank everyone who made this ride something special for me,
no matter how big or small the role in my life. Every memory will be something
that I cherish forever and will always be proud of. I could have never imagined
what this life could give me and where it has brought me. A blonde haired,
backwards hat wearing kid from the DMV going on to be a professional tennis
player for 16 years! I am forever grateful to this sport I love. My Family, My
Friends, My Wife, Tyler, My Baby, Rush - Thank you for the sacrifices you made
to allow me to reach for my dreams and become who I am today. I love you.”
Kudla finished his career without winning a single title at
the highest level. The highlight of his career came in 2022 where he played in
the quarterfinal at Wimbledon in doubles category. He and his partner Jack Sock
ended up retiring from the match against the pair of Robert Farah and Juan
Sebastian Cabal with a final score of 6-3, 6-3, 6-7, 1-1.
